After reading this headline: Report: Katrina response a ‘failure of leadership I must admit that one word came to mind ….
DUH!!
Did anyone really doubt that the leadership was seriously lacking during that tradegy?
We all saw the news… and the amount of time that passed before help started trickling in!
Was it all miscomunication? Did the fact that a large portion of our national guard was in foreign countries have anything to do with it? (Remember, the guard was started for homeland security within our own country .. not other places to begin with) Did the people that were affected have anything to do with the delay? (lower income and so forth)
There still is a lot of unanswered questions for sure but it seems that the the above headline is rather obvious to anyone that has a thought process to begin with
So what would a company that makes unbelievable amounts of money do for their users?
How about take something that they currently offer for free and start charging for it…..
Microsoft Anti-Virus Pricing Ripples?
Microsoft Corp. announced yesterday that beginning in June it would start charging $49.95 a year for Windows Onecare Live, a (currently free) managed-security service designed to protect Windows PCs from viruses, spyware and other Internet attacks
Hmmm … does this surprise me.. can’t say that it really does but at the same time.. just how much does one company need to make or have things not been all that rosey for them here lately?
In what some are calling a serious “duh move” the Sony corp has made an unpopular announcement:
Sony puts robot dog to sleep
While I truly understand the attachment one gets to a real dog or other pet, I must admit that the idea of getting really attached to something electronic seems just a tad weird. Maybe this is what our society is coming to though.. electronic companions that can actually tolerate their owners no matter how much of a jerk they may be. With computer chats, e-mails, forums and other outlets, ,it really seems as if our capabilities of dealing with other real life forms get more limited each day.
Will the future bring us robots that take the place of real life friends? Some might say that alone is a duh thought but is it really that far fetched anymore ……
